The Tomb of Sher Shah Suri in Sasaram is an architectural masterpiece of medieval India. Built out of fine red sandstone and completed in 1545, this grand Indo-Islamic mausoleum stands on a high stone platform in the absolute middle of a massive square artificial lake! Because of this, it is beautifully known as the 'Floating Tomb'. It is perfectly symmetrical on all sides, featuring elegant domes, decorative arches, and pillars. Sher Shah Suri was a brilliant ruler who built the famous Grand Trunk Road and introduced the Silver coin currency called the 'Rupiya' which we still use today!
